For a long time, Sean 'Skefferz' had displayed an understandable unwillingness to play with us. Although, that is not mean't in a bad way... As I said, it was understandable. The reason for this, was focused entirely on the computer he is forced to use for gaming. Basically, it's old and probably wasn't bought for the purpose of gaming in the first place. Therefore, he had struggled to play any game with us, besides Battlefield 2, as the computer seemed to have problems keeping up with what the game was trying to do.

He had since spoke with the WN| WARRIORS NETWORK Technology Support team, where Steve 'Predator' and I, Tony 'LANDWARRIOR', discovered a series of problems. While he ran an AMD Dual-Core 2.4Ghz, which is still the minimum requirement for most games today, and had sufficient RAM, he was running an old and low-power Power Supply Unit, preventing him from making too many upgrades. This was forcing him into a position that would require a whole new computer.

Recently, I looked up his computer specifications, and further investigated... Unable to discover anything new, I researched the capabilities of each component, beginning with the Graphics Card, as his frame rates seemed to be extremely low. Sean 'Skefferz' was running an Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE. From personal experience of Nvidia's 7th series, I found it hard to believe that even a low-end model would be having trouble, especially considering how capable the high-end cards are with games today.

I discovered that the Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE has a Fill Rate of 30,000,000 pixels, which means the device can fill the screen with that many pixels, per second. This might seem like alot. However, after doing the math, it turns out that's shockingly piss-poor. Apparently, it requires a Fill Rate of 47,000,000 pixels, just to deal a 1024x768 resolution, and maintain 60 Frames Per Second (FPS). This explains alot, as to why Sean 'Skefferz' was actually struggling to run most games at 800x600.

Since understanding the problem, we were still trying to figure out a solution. The obvious solution, would be for Sean 'Skefferz' to hunt for a new Graphics Card. With a 16 year old naturally being small on money, and researching other Graphics Devices taking time, I looked around, ;).

I had a Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX, sitting in a dead computer, and which would be ideal for his, as it isn't too overpowering against his computers other components. As I said before, I know from personal use of this Graphics Card, that it can handle most of what games developers spit out these days. The only concern, was his Power Supply, as the Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX requires additional power.

In the end, we gambled... and after meeting the kid twice, face-to-face, and spending the day to helping him install the device, it actually payed off! Sean 'Skefferz' can now be found ingame, pushing extreme pixel and texture resolutions! His confidence is up, and he's finally dealing some major butt kicking!!! Oh yeah!!! It's good to have you back brother, ;D.
