Just when I thought slapping together two GTX 260's, to create the GTX 295, wasn't bad enough in destroying everything else on the market, ASUS creates the 'Dual GTX 285 MARS'! Yes, that's right... They managed to fuse together two 2GB GTX 285's, into one 4GB monster! Let's run through the specs;
As mentioned, it has 4GB's of GDDR 3 on-board memory, running at 4968 MHz (2484 x2), with a memory bit-rate of 1024 (512 x2). The core clock speed is set at 1296 MHz (648 x2), and the shader clock speed is 1476 MHz (738 x2). It also features 55nm technology, which saving you power, which is useful if you care about how much power you burn in your house... or if you want to be running two of these, ;).
With these stats, you can apparently push a resolution of 3840 x 2160, and still play your Crysis, Far Cry 2, at an amazing FPS.
The whole design of this Graphics Card, has been carefully thought through. As you can imagine, there must be alot of heat in there... So, they have added 8 copper pipes, to cool this beast by 65%! However, while this makes the device itself cooler, it will cause a massive build-up of ambient heat. That means, you will need an impressive case and fan system, to spew out all of that heat.
Also, it is 21% faster than the GTX 295, which makes it the fastest Graphics Card in the world. It's already broken the world record, on 3DMark! However, all this comes at an massive price, as ASUS have chosen to limit manufacturing to 1000 copies.
Scan Computers retail this at £1030.98. Although, it is currently on pre-order, with no confirmation on release date.
